Ronald Carter is Professor of Modern English Language in the School of English Studies, University of Nottingham. He has published extensively in the fields of language education, applied linguistics and literary-linguistic studies. He is co-author of Cambridge Grammar of English, Exploring Spoken English and Exploring Grammar in Context, and co-editor of The Cambridge Guide to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages for Cambridge ELT. His most recent co-authored book is English Grammar Today (CUP 2011).
